Details: New Year's Day is usually a slow day for TV news departments. Several stories are preproduced and saved for use on this day to help fill the newscast.

Still, there must always be at least one reporter and photographer working in case real news happens and, on this day, I was the reporter.

Since real news was not breaking out, I decided to report on the lack of news. Viewers loved it. For about a week, people would come up to me and comment on my non-news news story.
